| I've been cutting on my arms for a few years, and a while back it got so bad I had to go to the hospital. I've stopped for about a week, but I feel like starting again. Can someone help me?
P.S. I wasn't sure where else to post this...

| Well, honestly, I don't know you very well, so I can't say much. The only thing that I can do at this point is to suggest for you to talk to a therapist or counselor, or maybe your parents, before coming to us. We're just a faceless entity on the internet - we can't do anything for you - but those people that you live with and see every day can help.
Give us your story. Why do you cut yourself? Who can/do you talk to about it? Is there a reason that you sought help on the internet rather than in real life? Do you - or does your family - have a history of depression or mental illess? What have you done, personally, to stop this?

| I've never really talked to anyone that cut.
But there is a reason behind everything.
So why do you cut?
Like when you get to stressed out or anything?
Has your family done anything to help you?
I understand that sometimes talking to strangers do help.

| chu is a wise one, ya know. take her advice well.
i've known many people that have self-harmed, i did it myself ONCE but weirdly, it wasnt that it felt like a release - and i didnt cut - i chickenscratched the back of my hand real deep - and didnt feel ANYTHING. it was bizarre. something i dont intend to let myself do again, lol :S
it's probably worth going to a doctor and see if they can refer you to a counsellor or therapy group, or give you any other kind of help. i've been on anti-depressants for 7 months now and they have REALLY helped me. so. just keep your options open .gif)

| Truthfully, I wouldn't expect much help from people online. I only say this because we don't know the reasons why you feel like harming yourself, and we don't know what influences that you have in your life.
You say that you feel like starting again after only a week? Harming yourself for any reason is not wise in the least. It's not something that you have to do. I'm with the others on this, go talk to your family and a counselor about what you're feeling.

| Well, no matter how bad the situation is, does cutting/hurting yourself, *ever* help anything at all?
An right now you have the choice between two paths: the life you lead now and the life you lead now plus cutting and pain.
I can't think of any scenario where cutting helps in the long run, for anyone. But maybe I'm wrong.
All I can think of is to talk to someone in real life who either cares or is a professional and gets paid to care, and sort out your issues.
Best of luck!

| that is not good to do to yourself and to me its just asking for attention...you really have a severe problem and if you don't stop you should seek help. Sorry but all in all, I'm speaking the truth. You really should stop doing that, I'm sure there is people that actually care about you. you shouldn't do such a thing to yourself. I know I have thought about doing things of such before, but I've never been the type to do that. so I can understand in a way, although i'd never do such a thing. you should get help.....

| I used to do the same. The important thing to remember is not to fall into that trance. You don't only hurt yourself, you hurt the people who love you when you do this. You can't be that selfish no matter how much you want to. Not to mention wearing long sleeves in the summer time can be real uncomfortable. Unless you want people to see the scars. Personally I'd hate being stared at like that.

| Just always remember that hurting yourself hurts everyone around you, and you don't want to hurt your friends, right?
