Unapproachable

A Role-Play by Seren Meinir

A small placid smile crossed Evangeline’s face, her bright green eyes not showing half the life that was actually inside the young sixteen year old woman. It was a dreadful time for her, she was meeting her betrothed for the very first time. If the legends about him where true he was a very beautiful man with hair of gold and eyes of the deepest blue. He was said to be like an angel on earth with a voice melodic and of a soft tenor.
Unlike most women though Evangeline wasn't one who found beauty on the outside intriguing though. She loved unique-looking people who brought out the beauty of their souls and the strength of their characters. So far, she was very upset with this arranged marriage because she had also heard another rumor about her betrothed. He was supposed to be a jealous and vain man, a mirror in every room and he was supposedly quite sadistic.
A soft sigh escaped her as she looked out the carriage window. Covering her green eyes with her hand she whimpered a look of worry crossing her features. Her maid, well more like lady in waiting, Jeanette looked over at her mistress with worry and understanding mixed into her blue depths.
Mademoiselle Evangeline you will make Monsieur a fine femme.” Jeanette said, tossing her long, blond, curly hair over her shoulder as she leaned over to Evangeline. Patting her Mademoiselle’s shoulder gently she smiled. “And do not forget you have Moi.”
“Thank you Jeanette.” Evangeline whispered, her eyes shinning with admiration for her very patient, very French lady-in-waiting. “But I am not as patient as you, Jeanette.”
“Patience has nothing to do with marriage Mademoiselle.” Jeanette whispered to Evangeline as she hugged her. “Mademoiselle you will make a fine femme no matter what. You have an adventurous and kind soul I know you will fulfill your duty.”
But I don't love him!” Evangeline exclaimed, her eyes widening as she looked over at Jeanette, pure fear of what was happening to her in her eyes. It was common to be forced into marriage and her mother swore to her that love would grow but to be honest Evangeline doubted the truth of that statement. Her mother, of course, was a very battered and broken woman. She wasn't battered by her husband, he was never around to batter her, she was battered by her own self-loathing and hate for not chasing after the man whom she loved.
“Love has nothing to do with marriage Mademoiselle Evangeline.” Jeanette answered, her own eyes filling with the gravity of the situation as the carriage creaked and groaned towards the Moss Well Manor. “All marriage is, is a business arrangement.”
“But that is not what I want!” Evangeline whispered, tears filling her eyes.
“It is what none of us want. As in the words of the famous Madam, We are not here to love we are here to further the status of our family. It is not right, it is not fair, and it will change.” Jeanette told Evangeline, patting her on the back.

Obligation Plot

The brother is seven foot tall, burly, and has scaring due to a tragic fire when he was younger, around when he was fifteen. However instead of falling for her betrothed she starts to fall for the brother, causing strife in the family and when she runs away who will follow her? The older brother will of course, only wanting to please his brother and to spend time with the woman who makes him feel normal.

Unapproachable Plot
Jeanette Delacroix, the lady-in-waiting for Evangeline Roosevelt, slowly starts to fall in love with the vain and very dashing Lord of Moss Well Manor. However, she is torn between obligation for her Mistress Evangeline and the fact that the Lord seems very unapproachable for a lady-in-waiting such as herself. Unbeknownst to her the Lord of Moss Well is attracted to the tall and patient Jeanette and when Evangeline runs away a small romance begins to bloom between the two that got left behind.

Freedom Plot

A wild and robust woman, the cousin of the Brothers of Moss Well visits her cousins and stays as she has no where else to go. She is wild, untamed and both Evangeline and Jeanette are enthralled by the red headed spit fire. So is another, the timid and shy accountant of the brothers. When the woman is accused of witchcraft in the nearby village and sentenced to burn at the stack will the accountant gain the backbone to help save his wild fire? [/u]

Details on the Characters:

Evangeline Roosevelt – Played By Seren Meinir
Evangeline is adventurous of spirit but she is also conflicted. She finds beauty in all people and is off put by the treatment of the Eldest Brother. She is especially kind and sweet to him, wanting to make him feel better about himself as a way of atoning for her 'sin' of not wanting to marry his younger brother. Soon however it is revealed that it is not an act and she truly finds the Eldest Brother Enchanting.

Jeanette Delacroix – OPEN

Jeanette is the very patient, demure, and honest lady-in-waiting for Lady Evangeline. She is easily thought to be a lady due to her upbringing as an lady-in-waiting. She was trained in etiquette and proper ways to dress, mannerisms, and how to be ladylike. Over time though she begins to feel torn between her obligations and her want for the man her Lady is supposed to marry.
Appearance: Blond curly hair, tallish, blue eyes.

(Wild Fire Woman) – OPEN
Wild and untamed, beautiful, and masculine in demeanor this girl was raised to take over the Montesquieu fortune and to not need any man. She is the only child of an aging lord and his deceased wife so she was raised by her father alone and has had very little input from females.
Appearance – Red hair, bright green eyes.

(Accountant) – OPEN
Timid, shy, afraid of the slightest movement the Accountant is the more feminine one of the Freedom Plot. Over time though he starts to develop a backbone to help quell the incessant rumors about the (Wild Fire Woman).

Younger Brother – OPEN
The Younger Brother is very vain and selfish. Always being told he was beautiful and handsome this sentiment was only amplified when he was taken to court to find himself a wife. He spotted Evangeline and courted her while their families arranged the marriage in secret. However, Evangeline was severely off put by his narcissism and only agreed to his proposal because of family duty.

Eldest Brother – OPEN
Quiet, thoughtful, a bit of a philosopher the Eldest Brother comes across as a bit of a brute and a monster when first met and due to the fact he has this strange loyalty to the family that mistreats him on a regular basis. He is not prone to laughter and he wears a mask to hide his horribly disfigured face. He is, of course, a giant as well standing a tall seven foot.

Questions and Answers

Quote:
What level of technology is available?
Say, do they have guns and carriages, or are they still at the bladed weapons and carts stage of things?
Is it set in actual countries or in a fictional location?
How do laws of inheritance work?
For instance, can a daughter inherit a title independently, if there is no son?
Whether or not that exists in this world might impact my character.
Come to that, what peerage system are we following? British, French, or what?
Also how children are addressed, in at least some of the cases.
Lastly, was my character even supposed to be in a titled family?
If so, did you have a title in mind, or is that my choice?

This story has guns, carriages, swords, and other things that are characteristic before the Victorian Era England. Also in this story it is a fantasy-world set in Europe, it is a combination of characteristics of European history and has France, England, Germany, Austria and other places but the actual area is not mentioned, the country, to give people more affluence as to what they want their character to be like. The laws of inheritance are simple. All reverts to the male heir and if the male heir is unfit in such a way it will go to the second son. If there are no son's and there is a daughter it will go to the daughter till she is married and then it will revert to her husband. If she doesn't marry, when she dies it will revert to the crown. Children are treated differently depending on station and gender. High class male children are treated with respect and honor and taught many things while female high class children are allowed to attend school till the age of eight and then they are to be taught how to be a good wife by their mother and are allowed to continue their studies via a governess. Low class children are considered buggers and are worthless as are their counterpoints. However, female low class children have no hope other than to be maids or other jobs and males can at least make something of themselves.
If your character is in a titled family. How high that title is on the ladder of titles is up to you. Also how your character is addressed depends on what country you chose for your character to be influenced by.
