So I was just curious where your viewpoints are on this.

Since I don't know much about it and would like to hear everyone's opinion on this.

I'm afraid to visit the website for fear of getting in trouble.
We got an email about it at work to not visit the site.

And I feel kind of bad that the guy, who I forgot his name, but seems like he is being charged with a bogus rape charge or something.

What the heck?

Where does it say that your job can determine what websites you visit, so long as its not on their time, on their internet or using their equipment?

@Fulkth
I think you're talking about Julian Assange. And yeah, I agree..though I don't think he made wise choices.

I'm not completely sure about what's going on with the website, but what I've read is that the sort of information it contains has caused it to be banned from more than a few countries. Out of curiousity, I visited the website and I have to say, it doesn't seem too bad at first glance. I don't see what all of the fuss is about, but then again, I don't know much about politics.

@Fulkththe the rape charges that you're talking about has to do with this: "WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has vowed to fight any legal moves to extradite him from the UK to Sweden.

Swedish prosecutors have sent an international arrest warrant to the Metropolitan Police, seeking his extradition for questioning over sex allegations made by two women.

Assange is accused of rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion - all of which he strongly denies."

I've not seen the site myself so I can only speculate as to why its such a big deal to the government. Out of hand yea I think so, but on the flip side, think about all the lies that all governments have told to each other so that they can get what they need from one another, and you can sort of see how it would hurt already fragile relations between them.

Aside from that, I recall hearing that the site did tell of a few extremely vulnerable places in the US that had to do with electrical power supplies and water treatment facilities...to think that if the water treatment plant was tampered with...that could be detrimental to the public.

There was also some information dealing with the military, accidental firings on civilians in Afghanistan. I recall hearing about all of this on Sky News. If I find any links I'll post them.

I'm not keeping up with the story all that well though. I've other concerns Sweat I just wanted you all to know that it's not just corporate America that's involved.

But all in all it is the gov'ts fault not the people..not america the american gov't which is already more currupt. as for wiki leaks, they should not bann the site, no gav't should hide anything from its people, and wiki leaks took those secretes and got them out there. i dont think you should be able to lose your jobe for going on the site, that stupid and against the first amendment.
