This is the sort of thing that makes me hate frat boys.

I am sorry if that offends any frat boys that don't happen to be jerks, and rapists. Now, I don't think that ABC goes into what they said, but the boys of this YALE fraternity marched on the school grounds chanting "No means yes, and yes means anal."

Ugh, seriously? One of the most prestigious schools that I know of, and they have frat boys chanting crap like this? This is why I would never go to a frat party, why I would never want to live on the school grounds in a dorm room, or any other number of things that these filthy minded boys might touch.

So, discuss what you think of fraternities and sororities, how you feel about that news story, and other generally disreputable things that may happen on a college campus.

Edit:
I would like to make it clear that this is an example of why I venomously dislike frat boys, but not the only reason. I have yet to meet a frat boy that I liked, but I do acknowledge that not all frat boys would be like this.

hmm. see i cant say alot since im a brit so know nothing of real american college life.

however, from what the media portrays of them (ie movies) i have to say, if thats accurate, i hate it/them too.

i have no time for men who are sexist like that. tho admittedly i think the way a lot of women act doesnt exactly discourage them. but thats a whole 'nother story.

that story reminds me of the scene in Borat where he meets the frat boys while hitchhiking. i know a lot of people hate Borat and Bruno, but personally i think they give a great insite into the close-mindedness of many american subcultures and so on...

First off: Borat was an awesome movie.

Now that I have gotten that out of the way. I can't speak to every frat boy in America, but I can't tell you that I don't like a single one of them that I have met. If there are any decent ones out there, then I've never even heard of them.

As far as women, just because someone leaves a pie to cool on a windowsill does not mean you should steal it. That being said, maybe you can find somewhere better to cool your pie then leaving it where everyone can see.

I hope that made sense.

interesting analogy. i get what you mean, though :P
what i mean though is that so many women play up to the female stereotypes that are encouraged in the media by magazines, fashion & beauty products, tv shows and so on. the irony of it being, if you want to find a decent man or even just good male friends, youre better off being self-respecting and not fulfilling the female stereotypes.

from experience and observation, i think its safe to say that the guys who like stick-thin, fashion-conscious, hysterical make-up-covered girls are usually the kind of guys most women complain about.

that said, any man who spouts the kinda crap these yale frat-boys are saying is not a real man anyway. theyre a coward who could never lay a real woman if they tried. theyd get their balls torn off.

(sorry, things like this make me agressive lol)

I...I think I love you!!! That was totally awesome, you don't have to apologize for it.

You know, it's one thing for a woman to be thin in a healthy way. A way that works with her body type, it's another thing to try to look like the skeletal super-models that everyone seems to think is so hot. My best weight is 130 to 135 lbs. At that weight you can see the hint of my abs, and no one believes that I weigh even that much. Why the hell would I want to be a skeleton?

As for the men, I don't understand any man that would want a woman that was little more then skin and bone. It's not attractive, and it certainly doesn't look healthy. Women should have nice curves, not a figure like a straight edge.

And men that think it's either funny, or alright to treat women in that way should be hit repeatedly. My husband is a Marine, and I know very much what he would like to do to those frat boys for what they said. It angered it, and he was filled with obvious disbelief about the school this happened at. That being said, he told me that this is not the first time he has her frat boys say those exact words. I think it's just the largest number of frat boys he has heard of saying it at one time.

...once again, my anger is appreciated. its so strange how this keeps happening ahaha.

anyways, yea, i know what you mean. there are skinny girls like keira knightley who it suits, because its natural for them. and because its natural, its hot. its when people force themself into a body shape, style of clothing or whatever else that doesnt come naturally to them. it works both ways, its just that we only ever see one side of it, really.

but yea... i hate it when women bitch about "all men" being this way or that, ie like those frat boys... when actually, theres a ton of guys out there that would treat them perfectly, but theyre too stupid to notice. ive been with a complete asshole who may as well have talked like one of those frat boys for the way he acted, and i learnt from it. never again. and besides. if you dont respect yourself, you cant expect anyone else too.

That is exactly how I feel. I was with someone for four years. It went well at first but then he started to verbally abuse me. Insults, and the like. When I got sick of it I tried to break up with him and was rewarded by having him grab me by the neck. I learned though, and I was lucky that a Marine started to show interest in me. He's amazing, and I'm married to him.

It's easy to find a guy that's not a jerk face if you just look, and if you don't act like your a high maintenance, stuck up, spoiled brat. Or a 'fashoniesta'. I don't like those either.

My inner feminist is throwing chairs because of this.

I have met decent guys who were in frats, but I'm still not a fan. I've never been to a frat party, and I'm fine with this. I don't like the culture of making an exclusive club. I like clubs that say "if you show up, you're in." Which happens to be all of the clubs except one (snowboard club) that I've been in. Of course the sororities in my college weren't allowed to have houses, so there wasn't much of a sorority culture there. I heard they were still full of drama when you joined though.

I'm also not a fan of other places where hazing is part of the culture, like police stations and fire houses and the like. They seem like frat houses for those not in college. If you join up, you end up all getting the same hair cut and then wearing the same things too. (at least that is what happened with my police buddies).

Eh, I haven't seen to much of that with the police station, and fire departments around here. I mean, sure they have a uniform to wear, but aside from that the guys I've known have all been very different when they were not in that uniform. Which is cool. Maybe it's different in other places though.

I can't stand cliques and what have you. I welcome anyone to be my friend so long as they are not overly judgmental or the sort of person that things you don't look good unless you are a twig. So, mostly my friends are gamer nerds. >.> The, like, three that I have. XD

@ Sychobunny - When you think about it, cutting ones' hair when in the fire or police department, or even the military makes sense. With the fire department, you don't want something that has a chance of either getting in your way or catching on fire attatched to your head.

Same thing with the other professions. Except you're not worrying about having you head catch fire. But I don't like the thought of having a drag line attatched to my head if a potentially dangerous situation were to happen. Too easy to be pulled into a compromising situation, or get your throat slit if yoou leave your hair long enough for people to grab.

Yeah, that's true enough. Having hair that is to long can be a problem. That being said, the military hair cut is not completely necessary for the military or fire department. I think they would be fine with just reasonably short hair.

Military only requires short hair for men, women can have long hair, they just wear it up. The uniform hair is partly a psychological link of you are part of a group and not an individual. If it were a safety thing, women would be required to get crew cuts too. But a crew cut is a masculine hair style and its considered cruelty to cut a woman's hair super short.

Women, though, are not allowed to be trained in combat as of yet. So there is a difference. If/when women are allowed to actually fight, we might see regulations change. There is a reason that men are required to have short hair and clean shaven faces.
