Okay, so I have my newbie repair hammer and I've got my newbie weapon. How exactly do I use the hammer to fix the weapon? when I select "use" on the inventory screen, nothing happens! Help please?

You cannot use a hammer by using it (stupid sentence sounds stupid XP). You need to go to the forge, where you'll be able to select the hammer and the weapon you want to repair.

Click on the Character tab, then on Town Place, then on Forge.

You can get more information about anything related to the battle system (including healing and forging) in the Newcomers Help Center linked in my signature.
