The boy was surprised at her response, he didn't expect it to be like this, especially since she seemed to be extremely upset the day before. However it also made him feel relieved and that showed. Alex smiled and instantly found it easier to be around her. "Thanks..." he said and looked at her once again, just to make sure that she was serious, only then did he drew his attention to the fact that the girl was holding a broom. "Do you work here?" he asked with a slight tilt of his head.

Erica smiled at him and then swayed the brroms stick a little, "What does it look like to you? Yes, I work here. See, I have the apron to match," she said, pointing to what she was wearing. "Mrs. Johnson, I've been working for her for around a year and a half now, not too long I don't think."

"Eh... Really? That's pretty impressive," he spoke having in mind the fact that he, himself never really had a job for a longer term. After an awkward pause, Alex managed to speak again. "Hey, do you think we could go grab a bite or something this evening or after you finish your work for the day?"

"After work you say? Hmm." Erica thought about it for a moment, and then nodded, "Yea, we can do that, I don't have much to do afterwards. I get off at five." she told him.

"Great!" the guy exclaimed. "See you at five then!" he looked almost ecstatic. Actually, he didn't know why he felt so happy about it, but told himself that was probably because he didn't like people to have a grudge against him for a reason unknown to him. As he thought about that, Alex decided to give a call home. Maybe that would make things clearer.
