:: Book Update ::

Now Reading ~ Uglies Scott Westerfield
Going to Read Next ~ I am Mordred Nancy Springer
Just Read ~ Shadowmaker Joan Lowery Nixon

@mdom :: Any books count, but not necessarily books for 3rd graders and under. You know, like those picture books?
Truth to be told, I read interesting picture books sometimes in bookstores....
Of course, they don't count in my list. Sweat

Bah, I keep the other things I read (comics and various stuff) in a third section of my little list post, appropriately called "not counting".
I'm mainly posting them for fun, and it case it interests anyone, but they are not part of the 50 books I'll read for the challenge. Wink

I'd already be done if we counted manga XP

Goodness, it has been nearly two weeks since I put on the question of the week...
And the winner is, Keylaleigh for her fabulous answer!

Keylaleigh wrote:
What book have you read changed your outlook on life?

When I was a child, I read The Phantom Tollbooth, the tale of a boy who was constantly bored with his surroundings, seeing life as being very dull. On his birthday, a single present is in his room- a cardboard tollbooth, a toy car, and two coins. Curious, he reads the directions and then takes the car through the booth, ending up in another world the moment he drives past it. In this new world, he meets strange characters like his friend Tock, The Watchdog, who is literally a dog with a watch in his body, and enemies like the Terrible Trivium. To summarise the book in two or three words, it would be called a "Logical Fantasy". They make a very fantastic and whimsical world out of the most simple of thoughts and wordplays.

Now how did this book change my life, you ask? It made me think harder. It made me see the fun where there may not be any fun. It made me think about the phrases I use every day in a literal sense (the concept of "killing time" is rather brutal, don't you think?). The most important thing it taught me, though, was to not look at my feet while I was walking. There's a whole big, beautiful world to look at, and if you spnd all of your time focusing on the smaller things, like just making it home, you miss out on everything.

Wow... that was a little lengthy. It's just that I love that book.

Congrats!

:: Book Update ::

Just Read ~ Uglies
Now Reading ~ I am Mordred
Going to Read Next ~ Beauty

Question of the Week ::

Which character (from any book) would you want to meet in real life?

What character would I like to meet?

I honestly would like to meet Hermione Granger so we could talk about books. XD It's also funny because someone said once that I sort of looked like Hermione. I think it's the big teeth. But I feel like she and I would find a lot to talk about. (:

Alternatively, I would like to meet Bella Swan so I could punch her in the nose :\

Oh, so many OTL
I'd love to meet all strong women from the greek tragedies.
Medeia, Antigone... women who fought for what they believed in, in a time so oppressive.

I finally finished Moby Dick!
A very poignant book.

I would love to meet Perrin from The Wheel of Time books. I thought he was an amazing character. I would also like to meet Lanfear. xD Granted only if I knew she would not murder me!

If I reach 50 by November I am going to add another 50. ^.^ I plan to read strictly Fantasy only. And with the 27 or 28 Salvatore books I have that won't be an issue.

Padfeets, I'm with you on punching her on the nose. Twisted Evil

So, the new question of the week is ::

What is the worst book you have read? Give a good reason why.

The Improbable Adventures of Sherlock Holmes! WORST. BOOK. EVER! It really disgusted me. Its basically a collection of ridiculously fantastical adventures of Sherlock with completely impossible outcomes. There is ABSOLUTELY no sense of logic or practicality in any of the short story's. Hell in one Watson ends up in an alternate universe where Moriarty is the good guy and Sherlock is the bad guy. They take his famous motto way too far.
