the race you pick doesnt change how your avatar looks, it effects some of the statistics of your battle character

As ecco said, your tribe (race) doesn't change your base. Only some special items will change your skin. I suggest you take a look at the MAD, our dream avatar creator, if you want to know which skin comes from which item.
