17th: thats interesting. May I ask why you don't consider them to be the same?
And I agree with the B&W being powerful comment XD

MaxR: Greyscale is for photos right? I would say that came under black and white esp as I meant black and white as shadeing/tonal, may it be with only usng black and white paint or only using pencil.

Thanks for your comments XD

does greyscale count as B&W? because I love black and white, but shading is awesome too. So just wondering where greyscale fits...

In this case I'm taking "black and white" to mean greyscale. So yeah, hooray for shading!

I prefer to work in color, although what media I use depends on the piece. I've been doing a lot of CG's lately but I really want to learn how to use watercolors. Bouncy Heart

smc822: I would love to be able to use watercolours as well. Mainly because of a guy called Alex Ross actually prehaps you've heard of him? But either way I love his photorealism XD

Meh... Ross seems to specialize in Marvel-type characters. I admit the technique is amazing, but I find the subject matter rather "blah."

Yes Alex is a comic book specialist, not restrained to marvel, but he can
still produce people that are so realistic that they could walk of the page and I think that is very hard to come by. It's because of this that I respect him as an artist and could only dream that one day I could even get close to how talented he is.

Also I think he can send out a strong message in his work. I have seen a picture he did of George W. Bush biting the neck of Lady liberty before. I think thats pretty strong tbh, but I do sort of agree with you in the sense that he is a designer rather than an artist and that he is near on told what he must paint or portray.

Thanks for your comment XD

I prefer mixed Medias. Tradition art colored or edited in photoshop. I normally only do lineart because it takes so long to do a decent color job that I dont feel its worth all that time for a few measly bucks or some forum currancy. And when I do art for myself I normally just color it traditionly because if I screw it up I dont feel so annoyed scrapping it and starting over. ;>__>

I do LOVE to pixel sprites and small dolls. Something about trying to make such small pieces work the way you want them to interests me alot.

thanks for your comment.

er lets see, yeah I'm more of a lineart artist than a colour or shading artist, when it comes to doodleing. I put effort in for shadeing when I'm attempting realism and colour when I'm determined or just fancy a bit of a change. I must say i don't often mix medias, but if and when I do it'll be possibly pencil (graphite) mixed with coloured paint or chalk pastel.
